Along with today’s lunch, I must remember to pack a spare pair of pants for the biggest kid because I have no doubt in my mind that he’s going to crap himself once he see’s what’s in his lunch container!
Both kids love to play angry birds, on mine and hubby’s iPhones. In fact, I’m pretty sure Nathan has a better score on most levels than I do… And he’s 4. The kid is nuts when it comes to angry birds!
When I saw other angry birds inspired bentos like this one from another lunch, and another one that of course I can’t find a link to (e.t.a: The “missing link” I was thinking of was this creative angry birds bento from Creative Food!) but I’m pretty certain it came from Lunchbox Awesome, I knew I just had to try my hand at the famed theme.
Let me tell you… I’m THRILLED with the end result! It was quite simple to do as well! I made sure that my laptop was by my side with a picture of all the angry birds so I could reference. Funny enough, I expected the white bird to be the easiest and he’s the one I’m least happy with.
The breakdown of what I used is a hard boiled (and peeled) egg for the white bird, mini quesadillas for the green guys, a babybel cheese for the red guy, and veggie straws for the house. The facial features are nori, marshmallows, carrots, and edamame with edible pen accents. It’s all on a bed of rice. Not gonna lie… I feel like a bit of a superstar right now!
I can’t wait to see the look on N’s face when I show him his lunch tomorrow!
In this bento: Rice, hard boiled egg, babybel cheese, veggie straws, mini chicken and cheese quesadillas |
Also in this bento: plums and mini rice cakes in reusable sammie bags (and yogurt and cereal not pictured) |
