As a busy family of five, we accumulate a LOT of laundry.
For many years I’ve made my own eco friendly laundry soap in an effort to cut down on the monthly expense, and while I love the cost savings of homemade laundry detergent, I definitely don’t love the 30 bottles that sit on the laundry room floor at any given time.
I recently discovered Tru Earth Eco-Friendly Laundry Detergent, an eco-friendly laundry soap that is hypoallergenic, vegan-friendly, paraben-free and the best part – comes in convenient tear-able strips!
That’s right, tear-able strips!! I didn’t even know these were a thing, but they are, and let me tell you – they will revolutionize the way you do laundry from this moment forward.
Simply open the bag, tear off a strip and toss it in the wash. No more measuring, no more powders and no more messy spills. Tru Earth eco-strips are also a great solution for smaller laundry helpers.
1 strip equals 1 load of laundry. As simple as that!
After a series of “laundry trials” I’ve found a 3 gram Tru Earth Eco-Friendly Laundry Detergent strip packs the same cleaning power or more as the typical 40-gram ration of both my homemade laundry soap and store bought liquid, only loads easier!
We love that Tru Earth is eco-friendly, but we also love that it has a dramatically smaller eco-footprint than liquid and powder detergents. The packaging is super sleek, re-closable and recyclable and uses exponentially less plastic than its bottled counterparts. It also takes up way less space than standard laundry jugs. This creates a reduction in transportation fuel consumption and global-warming carbon emissions by 94% compared to today’s leading-brand liquid and powder detergent.
Tru Earth Laundry Detergent is a revolutionary strip form of traditional laundry soap. This eco-friendly solution that’s as sensitive on your skin as it is on the environment!
If you’re not sold yet, when you order online, Tru Earth Eco-Friendly Laundry Detergent ship free with an option for automatic monthly delivery! Try it, I’m convinced you’ll love it as much as we do.

I’ve never heard of these but this would be so handy while traveling! I used to make my own big 5 gallon of dry laundry detergent back when I was washing clothes for all 8 kids.
Sarah says
I never even thought of that! Or in the camper too!
Irene says
It may be convenient ( same as plastic was until we found out what it was made of ) I would like to read all the ingredients even if it says Eco friendly
Sarah says
All the ingredients are listed on their website – https://www.tru.earth/Ingredients
Flora Miller says
I just learned about them this year, and after researching the product thought I would give them a try. Tide has been our go to product for years … but no longer. One little strip does an AMAZING job of cleaning a load of clothes and actually removed stains that Tide couldn’t. I have always felt guilty about the number of plastic containers I throw out each day and am working to get back to a more natural way of doing things. Buying the Tru Earth laundry strips was one of my initial actions to make this happen and I’m thrilled that I did. Can’t go wrong with Tru Earth!
Maximary says
I did the same and the whole laundry room floor was full of bottles!! Now it’s so much easier, and ultimately much cheaper.
Maximary says
I did the same – made 5 gallon of gel laundry soap and the whole laundry room floor was full of bottles!! Now it’s so much easier, and ultimately much cheaper.
Sarah says
I’m glad I’m not the only crazy person that did this! 🤣
Heather says
That is so cool!! I had never heard of that either! Now I’m so curious to try it!
Sarah says
They’re a very cool product! Such a great fit for busy families
valda Meiers says
can they be used in front loader washing machines?
Sarah says
Yes! I have a front loader and I exclusively use these
David Hurdon says
I’ve been using them for a month or so in a front-loading machine. I follow the instruction to tear a sheet into small pieces and drop them where you would otherwise pour liquid detergent when the wash cycle asks for soap. Last week I bought some t-shirts and noticed that an older white one was dingy compared to the new one but overall I’m well satisfied with the strips and more than well satisfied with not discarding another of the 700 million plastic jugs going into the garbage stream annually. And, by the way, when you discard a mask, break the loops that go around your ears so that birds and other creatures don’t end up with them around their necks. We’ve done enough damage to innocents without adding a new threat.
Sarah says
Glad you like them too David! Have you tried laundry stripping? I’ve found it to be great to get out heavily built up gunk that gets stuck in clothing!
Also a great tip about masks. We’re a reusable cloth mask family here though! 😄
Mary says
I tear a strip into smaller pieces and put them in detergent drawer; works great!
Sarah says
I always just throw it right it the washer and have never had a problem
Mari Howard says
i just throw them in with the clothes
Hallie says
It works! you don;t need suds to get things clean!
Maria Mc Coy says
As simple as
1 put clothes in machine
2 put Tru Earth strip in
3 Turn machine on
A good range of alternative types/scents.
I’d recommend them to anyone to try.
Sarah says
Right?! So simple!! Glad to hear you love them too!
Hannah Rowland says
We are having a baby soon and I am thinking about just ordering the year supply of the baby version and just using that for everything, would it still take out stains and work well?
Penny Hadley says
I wouldn’t be ordering a year’s supply until I knew I was happy with them. Also, your baby could be allergic, etc.
Hannah Rowland says
Also, have you compared this to the washer agitator balls that use no soap? I am curious about those, but am cautious about them because I want to get my clothes clean. I think H2O makes them as well as a few other companies.
Ashley N Rice says
I love that these are vegan-friendly!! So need to check these out, they sound amazing!! Getting entered into your giveaway. 🙂
Sarah says
Yep! No animal testing either! Such a great product
Elaine G says
I like that it is paraben free and I am trying to reduce plastics and chemical products so these would come in handy. I’ve never heard of these but will be checking them out.
Sarah says
Yes!! Me too! Totally in the same boat
Monica says
Laundry strips? What will they think of next! I will have to take a look at these if I ever see them in the store.
Sarah says
That’s what I thought too! So crazy innovative! Make sure to check their website out
Mary says
I think they are a great idea but they are too expensive. If the cost ever comes down I will certainly try them
Katy Waugh says
I bought the annual pack and when I did the math, comparing it to the laundry pods I was using, I actually SAVE $47 a year! Plus, I use their wool dryer balls (4-pack) instead of dryer sheets… They really do cut down the drying time per load, saving me money on the electric bill. I love these products!
Sarah says
Right?!? And it’s so nice not to have so many detergent bottles kicking around!
Dave Mudge says
This all sounds great and what a clever commercial on Face Book. However, if I did the math right, it cost $3.52 per load… On a fixed income, that is a lot…
E says
I don’t know how much it costs online but we sell them at my grocery store for 12$ for 32 sheets as opposed to a jug of 64 loads for like 23$. I’ve found it very close in price and the extra buck worth it for less waste.
Michele says
That was my cute cousin in the fb commercial ❤️ I shop at the wellness company for all of my safe everyday stuff that does cost less but I also like this product!
Heatherkrith says
I don’t think they are in stores, very easy ordering online. I’ve used them for over a year, they are wonderful. I’m in a senior care home and have been passing them around for people to try. Most are sceptical, but all report nothing but success.
Aileen Dean says
Use half a strip or less
Amy Heffernan says
I need Tru Earth Eco-Friendly Laundry Detergent in my life to help the earth more! Thanks!
Sarah says
Ya you do! You’ll love it, I know it!
Anne Taylor says
Mainly these take up no storage space and that makes me so happy lol
Sarah says
Omg this has been the best for us! What took over almost a whole wall is just a small package that I clip right to the washer!
joanne darrell says
I want to use as many natural products as possible/
Sarah says
This is a good way to do it!
Sage says

Denay DeGuzman says

Sarah says
This has been near life changing for us. It’s so simple!
Juliee Fitze says
I would like to see how the strips work.
Sarah says
It works GREAT! I assure you! You’ll love them!
Tammy Mallory says
I have tried and sad to say not really impressed…. I purchased both unscented and scented and my clothes smell dirty and had to rewash two loads as they did not clean my sheets!
Sarah says
Really?! Oh no!! We’ve been loving them! I’d suggest reaching out to the brand directly to see if there’s anything they can do for you.
I’m sorry to hear you haven’t had a positive experience
Roberta Livingstone says
It could be soap build up in her machine, or if on well water the order could be from minerals in the water. I find my machine doesn’t have the weird smell any more. I used less than the recommended amount of soap from the bottle because I didn’t like the soap build up. No soap build up with Tru Earth. I refuse to use anything else. Also a side effect I didn’t expect – my itchy skin isn’t itchy anymore. There must have been something in the bottled soap that bothered my skin. I can tell as my warmer clothing is being worn now, that some items haven’t been washed in Tru Earth yet.
denise comeau says
do you have a front loader or regular top loader??
Sarah says
I have a front loader.
jan says
in the quest for doing better for the earth this Tru Earth Eco-Friendly Laundry Detergent helps to fit the bill.

Sarah says
I’m so happy to hear that! I hope you add these to your routine!
l p says
love trying new things, especially if they benefit our ecosystems.
Eimear says
I am so sick of the huge bottles of detergent on my laundry room floor I love the idea of these strips. I’ll definitely try and will have my fingers crossed that they do the job well so I can ditch the eco-unfriendly bottles asap!
Sarah says
They work very well! And I can relate, there’s honestly 30 bottles of laundry soap on my floor at any given time
Anne Fearon says
I am curious as to why you have 30 bottles at one time . I have one large jug and have had it for about one year . When it is empty i will cut a piece out leaving the handle intact and use it as a carry garden tools, or other items .. There is no need to buy everything that the advertisers say we must have .
I am not against new ideas but am sick of the ads for Tru EARTH .
Sarah says
I have six people and two pets in my house. We do a LOT of laundry. Just one bottle would not last long here. Everyone’s needs are different, and this is one of the reasons I love Tru Earth – I can buy a years worth of soap and not have to worry about storing it! ☺️
Katherine Petrunia says
This looks really interesting! I’ve never heard of them before but now am so curious! Love trying eco friendly products in our home
Sarah says
They are super interesting! I’m still in shock at how well they work
Michael Kwan says
Folks in my family have sensitive skin, so we’ve always been on the lookout for hypoallergic detergents and such with minimal perfumes, etc. This looks like a great option and it’s eco-friendly too!
Sarah says
These are perfect! They have a completely fragrance free version too
Tamara says
I just recently heard about laundry strips but didn’t know of any brands. Love the idea!
Sarah says
Well now you know! 😁 you’re a step ahead of me as I had never heard of the strips before.
Joy Fielder says
We have used these for quite a while now…..Love them….No more large containers of detergent ….Yay!
Sarah says
Aren’t they the best!! So glad you love them too!
Terri Pultz says
But are your clothes clean?
Sarah says
My clothes are 100% clean! Even the super soiled things. If something has a stuck on stain I’ll usually pre-treat just to be safe though, but I’ve never had a problem!
Florence Cochrane says
This would be perfect for home and travel.. Love to try them.
Sarah says
I hope you win!
CoraLee says

I need these for travelling so much lighter to pack and to be better eco wise would be great

We have been making small changes to make sure we become more eco-friendly so thank you for introducing us to tru earth and the benefits of using it
Pati Robins says
we ARE ALSO TRYING TO BE MORE kinder for the enviroment and this brand is a brand that i never heard before , but i am so glad you shown it
Sarah says
Always a good thing when we can be kinder to the environment!
Dee Nord says
Are these gonna be sold on store shelves anytime soon? Not an on line shopper at all. But would really like vegan friendly no plastic waste clean for my house hold.
Sarah says
Yes!! Where are you located?
Shaily says

Sarah says
My thoughts exactly! 🙂 Hope you love them as much as I do!
Catherine says
Definitely, something I need to look into..I have not heard of this brand before but I’m all for eco products.
Sarah says
They’re great!! I’m always onboard for switching to eco friendly stuff where possible.
Rowena says
This is interesting. Never heard of it before. I wonder how it compares to mainstream detergents.
RJ says
I, too, have tried this laundry detergent, and have found it to be all that you have said. I love that I don’t need a large cabinet to keep a bottled detergent in, it doesn’t spill nor smell, it is completely dissolved and never leaves a residue on the clothing after washing…
What else can I say? I came online to order more, and just happened to see your post on FaceBook, so thought I would add my two cents.
RJ says
Oh, and I forgot to mention the most important feature!!! It cleans just as well as the most popular (and expensive) detergent that I used to use ~ you know, the one in the bright orange plastic bottle.
Pati Hill says
I agree with one of the other commenters that my laundry doesn’t seem very clean. I’ve never used scented products, so I don’t expect my wash to smell like anything other than clean. Does this product even have soap in it? There is no sign of sudsing in the drum and even using 2 strips for a medium sized, lightly soiled load doesn’t seem to help.
Sarah says
You definitely don’t need sudsing for cleaning to happen. I’m sorry you haven’t had a great experience with them. I really love them! Have you reached out to the company? They might have some feedback
Joseph Davey says
I read on a lot of reviews that they don’t properly dissolve or leave a lot of residue. What was your honest experience regarding this?
Sarah says
So, I’ve had this happen maybe twice, and each time it’s happened has been COMPLETELY user error. I have a front loading washer and if I cram way too much laundry in and then put the strip in it sometimes doesn’t fully dissolve because it doesn’t have room to float around and dissolve in the wash. That’s the only time it’s happened to me!
Barbara Richman says
I’ve been using these for about 6 months, and I’ve never had a problem with laundry not getting clean. I use the unscented version (tried the scented version but prefer as little chemical as possible). I have a front load washer, and plenty of gardening clothes to wash. I find with repeated washings that even older stains that I hadn’t been able to get out with regular detergent are fading away.
Sarah says
I can’t wait to try the baby version! I just got it this week!
Judy Varner says
Tru-Earth order arrived a month after I placed my order. The first load was very small, only 4 men’s dress shirts, less than 1/2 of the washer, so I used a HALF a sheet as indicated on the package for small loads. I put the sheet in before the laundry, and added warm water to see how it dissolved. It seemed to mostly dissolve, but some was stuck on the agitator so I helped it dissolve with my fingers, then added the laundry. Shirts seemed to come out OK, but they weren’t visibly dirty to start with.
Next load was a fairly full load of whites, including a pair of socks with grass stains. I used a full sheet here, with hot water, and the sheet dissolved better at this temp. I took a picture of the socks before and after washing, and the only difference was that the physical grass was gone…still green stains. Will need to rewash using SHOUT or some other pre-treatment. Not really impressed, for the cost of this product (~36c/load). I’ll probably save them for travelling, and only then for lightly soiled loads.
Sarah says
Hey Judy!
Thanks for your feedback! I’m sorry to hear you weren’t totally pleased with the product. I personally pretreat all my stains, but just use blue dawn dish soap and I’ve never had any problems.
Sonya Kilmartin says
I have also tried Dsolve, which is the same format. not sure about the vegan claims etc, but they are quite a bit cheaper if you can get them. They are available in Canada https://dsolve.ca/
Ingredient list looks similar to Tru Earth. although i haven’t checked that close.
Maria (BearMountainBooks) says
Glad to know they work. I hadn’t heard of them either, but they are far too expensive for me. I used to make my own laundry soap. In looking around there are other brands of these laundry strips. I’m going to try one of the more economical strips. I LOVE the idea that there are not giant plastic bottles or containers. I hope one of less expensive brands works well! I couldn’t find any strips at all in Walmart, but I have found several brands to try online.
Nina Barton says
Environmental working group gives these detergent strips a C. They have some concern with asthma/respiratory, and some with cancer. I just received a package in the mail, and will try them, but I’m not sure if they’re that great for the environment. I was hoping to find a product without a plastic impact on the environment, and these are that, but I now have concerns after checking EWG.
Epeefencer says
In researching the price, the Tru Earth is listed at $16.95 for the 32 loads while All Ever Clear is listed at $16.69 for 94 loads. That’s 53 cents per load compared to 18 cents per load. Not very cost effective if you ask me.
Marilyn says
I was skeptical but, I love this product. I choose unsented and also bought the wool dryer balls. I sent the baby strips to my son for his new baby. I can’t say enough about the landry product. I want to try the cleaning spray next order.
Sarah says
Thanks for your comments Marilyn! I’m so glad you love them too! We just got the baby packs and are just as happy with them as ever! I didn’t even realize there’s laundry spray, so I’ll have to try that out too!
Kim says
Hi I recently purchased these laundry strips and I’m finding that my clothes are very dried out and rough not soft at all. I love the concept of these straps but clothes don’t feel good.
Helen Crittenden says
I bought the Fresh Linen (smell) – still smells like detergent. Washing seemed OK at first, then I came out in a rash. Had to go out and buy my old detergent again and re-wash everything. It doesn’t say hypo-allergenic on the packet and it’s not.
Sarah says
Oh no!! I’m sorry to hear this happened! Have you reached out to TruEarth? Perhaps you might have better success with the unscented product?
Carlos Mendoza says
Most of these contain PVA which is water soluble but does not biodegrade fully. It’s considered a plastic so stop with the greenwashing about these being eco friendly. Yikes.
jack johnson says
pva is biodegradable
Elaine says
Love all their products. My laundry soap and cleaner comes to my mail box every month. I never have to worry about running out. The dryer balls are amazing for the price. I have ordered them before from different web sites and these ones are twice the size. I am a Tru Earth junkie. Every month I order something new from their site and I have yet to be disappointed.
Sarah says
Me too!! I need to try the cleaners too!
denise comeau says
I do have plans to try this product out-but I’m going to do the math again also. When I did make my 5 gal bucket of homemade detergent I simply left it in the bucket with a lid. I have the mixer attachment that goes onto my hubbys drill to give it a quick mix every now and then, and that works great!
Sarah says
Before TruEarth I did this too, only I put the mix into old laundry jugs. I find TruEarth works SO much better than my homemade solution did, and I don’t need to have the jugs or bucket taking up space in my laundry room
Susan says
I tried them but wondering why so suds?
