Foodie PenPals Reveal Day – October Edition

HAPPY HALLOWE’EN, and a big ole’ Happy Birthday to my Dad! Always the trick never the treat as my dad always says used to say! With the end of the month comes Foodie PenPal’s reveal day!!

This is my third month taking part in this exchange program and I continue to love it! (Although this month I was a total fool and screwed up the address on the package I sent and thus had to resend it :(, so she’s likely going to get it late. I hope my foodie forgives me!)

The foodie sending to me was Natalie sending all the way from Ontario! Go check out her blog over at sugarflourflavour, but not if you don’t want to gain weigh… There’s some seriously amazing baking going on over there! If you’ve read my reveals before you know that I like to do them with my kids, and I like to pull out the globe and turn it into a bit of a learning experience showing them where the package came from and asking them questions like how they think it got here. This time the biggest kid answered “an airplane” …Unlikely, but a good guess none the less! 

They’re always so eager to bust open the packages! It’s really a fun experience for us!

This month, our package included some amazing Hallowe’en inspired yummies. I received a huge jar of Pumpkin Pie Jam witch (see what I did there) is freaking amazing! I’ve been eating it in the morning on toast with cream cheese and it’s like having a little piece of pumpkin cheese cake in the mornings! We also recieved some chocolates (ya, they didn’t last long!), hemp hearts that I’ve been dying to try, adorable cupcake wrappers (will be used for my Dad’s birthday cupcakes), and halloweeny sprinkles. Also came with a cute card! Love love love!! And Thank you SOO much!

The foodie sending to me packed up cute little lolliepops in tissue to resemble ghosts! So adorable, and a big huge thank you for taking time out to make something special for the kids! They really love it!

-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
-Foodie Penplas is open to US & Canadian residents. Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa.
