With Friday, brings the guarantee of two things…
- That it’s going to be slim pickin’s in the fridge
- That the well of creativity is going to be running dry.
Both these are ringing true today! My intentions were to go to the grocery store to pick some stuff up, but I decided to go to the new Value Village that just opened up near me and see what all the hype was about. I spent more hours than I care to admit last night reading the ENTIRE refashionista blog. That was seriously dangerous! Having been a fashion designer in a past life, now not only do I want to refashion everything in my entire wardrobe, but I now feel like I need to go hunt out refashionable stuff up at the thrift store! Ugh… That said, I did get some good finds tonight! The first good find being my most favorite pair of shoes EVER… Like seriously, I bought this same pair of sketchers slip ons a long time ago. I wore the crap right out of them and reluctantly tossed them when I started to look like I lived on the streets when I had them on. I’ve bought MULTIPLE pairs of slip ons since then and nothing compares, but ALAS!! There they were, smiling at me from the shelf AND IN MY SIZE TOO!!!! They were in great shape and only $7!! Sweet! Also added to my pile was a super cute DKNY dress for $7 and a cute casual type blazer that will look great with jeans (I’m going to have to dye it as it’s a little faded but after all my reading last night, this “should” be an easy fix!) for $4!! I bought hubby a baseball book that looked like something he might enjoy reading, and last but not least a bag of cookie cutters! Really excited to put them into action soon! Anyways, over all it was a pretty good haul! The kitchen cupboards are still empty, but at least I’ve now got a bunch of junk that I didn’t need!
Anyways… Back to bento! As with my shopping trip, this bento had good intentions! I was at Daiso last weekend and picked up some new supplies that I’ve wanted to use all week. In the interest of doing something easy, and cute, I decided on the Mr. Sun waffle as the kids really love that one. Great, I had just enough strawberries in the fridge to execute this, I’d cut an egg in half to make a balloon with the new picks I got, make some cucumber flowers with the other new picks I got, and voila! Cute bento, right… Ya… Not so much! As they say, a picture’s worth a thousand words so I’ll let you dissect the lack of awesome that is this bento! Regardless, I’m sure it’ll still taste good and the kids will still love it, and really, that’s what it’s all about!
In this bento: Raspberry cheescake, egg, cucumber, steak strips, strawberries, waffle with cream cheese |
