You’ve all heard them before… Friends don’t let friends drink and drive, Friends don’t let friends vote republican/democrat, well… Friends don’t let friends make ugly bentos! (Well, they shouldn’t anyways!)
Some time ago I ordered a super cute (or so I thought) sandwich cutter/press thing from eBay. As with every bento related thing that I purchase, I was ridiculously excited to use it…
Enter bear sammie fail.
Not only was my bread far to dry to use this cutter (helpful hint: when using a sandwich press or cutter, it can be helpful to microwave your bread for a few seconds prior to cutting/pressing if it’s not super fresh. This will help stop the bread from ripping when pressed!), but the cutter itself was just not designed very well. I quickly discovered upon pushing it into my sandwich that there was virtually no way to get the darn sammie out from this press… Oy… Oh to be a fly on my wall while I was running late for my bus, and cursing my sandwich cutter for not letting go of my darn sammie!
After much cursing, foot stomping, and prying, I was able to release the sad little bear from the mold, which was mangled nearly beyond recognition, stuff it into the lunch box and be on my merry way…
Moral of the story… Friends, don’t let friends make ugly bento’s!! This was all easily avoidable had I just have used my CuteZCute! Silly me…
This bento consists of a ham and cheese bear sammie, peppermint dipped pretzels, Christmas tree quail eggs, grapes, carrots, and peas.
