Today is a very special day! It’s our Rainy’s birthday!! Rainy is one of our two international students who is living with us for 2 weeks. It’s her 13th birthday!! She’s officially a teen today and I’m excited! I love birthday’s more than I can explain! With birthday on the brain I attempted to execute a little birthday themed bento. As all my loyal readers will know, some of my attempts don’t go quite as well in person as they do in my mind… This was another of those attempts! I made little tiered birthday cakes out of stacked mini jam and cream cheese sammies, with apple pieces as candles, and cheese cutouts as mock icing. Ya… So I’m fairly certain no one is going to have any idea what these are but me, and I can hardly tell what they are! (The fact that my photo is on my crappy iPhone camera doesn’t help my case here either) I searched to no end for my cute little 3 tiered square cake cookie cutter but I can’t for the life of me find it so off to improvising it was.
Anyways, you can’t fault me for trying right?! I bought a super delicious looking cake that will hopefully serve as a get out of sad bento box jail free card and back into the good books… That just reminded me… I still need to get her a card… Shoot… We’ll also be ordering in Chinese food for dinner tonight because I REALLY don’t feel like cooking I thought the students might like a little taste of home to celebrate this special night!
The girls got their lunches in my trusty LunchBots and my monsters kids got their trusty GoodByn Byntos
Don’t forget to enter the GIVEAWAY!!! Seriously… All the cool kids are doing it!
