I’ve always been an “I can do that” kinda gal, so when I saw a super cute tutorial for a penguin inspired bento at this website I just had to try it out. I intentionally made extra rice at dinner so that I could execute this, and while it’s definitely creepy a work in progress that I think I could improve on the next try, I’m happy with how it turned out! The face is made from hand shaped nori, and the beak is made from the end of a hotdog. The best part is that it was quite easy to make! I threw in some penguin crackers to keep with the theme.
Check out the tutorial over at All Things For Sale and perhaps pick up some great bento supplies for yourself at the same time!
Also in this bento is another cute idea I saw on Pinterest where you put chocolate chips in your raspberries! The berries were on sale at the grocery store today, and knowing I still had some chocolate chips at home I thought this was a perfect opportunity! Hope the kids like this one!
In this bento: Rice ball, banana, penguin crackers, chicken, corn, raspberry, chocolate chips, veggie straws |
Enjoy!
ETA: If you decide to make this, make sure that you don’t make the rice ball too large for the container you’re putting it in. I over estimated on Madison’s bento and so her penguin face is a little squished! Oops!
