I am a dessert lover. If given the choice at a restaurant, I’ll easily forgo the meal appetizer so that I can save space for a sweet treat at the end of the meal. The thing is though, it’s rare that I ever find time to make dessert at home. That and the fact that the last thing I need kicking around my kitchen are pies, cakes, and other sugary/fatty treats.
Enter Avocado Chocolate Pudding! You’re probably thinking “Gross! Why would I want avocado in my chocolate pudding?” Well, the answer is because avocado’s are awesome! This superfood is packed full of disease-fighting antioxidants, and while they’re high in fat, don’t let that scare you away! They contain healthy fats but are also full of soluble and insoluble fibre which can help you lose weight.
See! Told you they’re awesome!
In addition, avocado’s are amazingly creamy! So much so, that they’re often a welcome addition to my morning smoothies!
Did I mention that this recipe is vegan, gluten free, dairy free, and ready in 5 minutes or less? That’s right folks, awesome! And I assure you, all you can taste is rich chocolatey goodness in this decadent pudding.

- ⅓ cocoa powder
- ¼ honey
- ½ cup coconut milk (substitute milk of your choice if desired)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract

Wow that IS easy! It looks so delicious. I need to get some avocados!

Even though avocado is gaining a reputation as a “superfood” (and I generally don’t believe these things because they usually either get exposed as exaggerations or studies eventually find something bad about them), I do know one thing avocado is bad for. If you know anyone who has gout (like my dad), avocado is not very good for that. I don’t think it’s one of the worst foods for gout, but it’s on the list of things to watch out for if you’re having problems.
Sorry for the mini-rant, just wanted to spread some awareness on that subject since it seems relevant. Count me among those who think avocado sounds VERY strange with chocolate pudding, but I’m curious enough to give it a try. It certainly does look delicious.

Ooh. This looks great. We’ve used tofu in chocolate mousse and done avocado in a cream pie, but this is genius! Yum!

That sounds amazingly good! We adore avocados here (and chocolate!) and sometimes get them for 25 cents a piece at Aldi and I’ll buy like 12. How many cups does this recipe make? Thanks!
