{PRODUCT REVIEW} T-FAL Actifry

Once upon a time, way back in my bachelorette days I had a deep fryer. Words can not express how much I loved this thing. My girlfriends and I used to have “deep fry” parties where we would batter and deep fry almost anything we could find while drinking Italian Sodas… I know, we were truely pillars of health!

Aside from hating the caloric addition to typically healthy food items, I hated the HUGE mess that my deep fryer created. Not only was I left with ~~800 gallons~~ lots of gross oil to dispose of (to which I’m pretty sure I never actually disposed of properly) while recovering from a deep fried induced coma, but it would literally COAT my walls, cupboards, and counters with oily steamy sludgey grossness, ugh… I hate to think of what it was coating my insides with! And nevermind the smell… I swear you could smell the remnants of deep frying for days after the fact. When I made the big move in with my husband, then boyfriend I decided to part ways with my beloved deep fryer, and one could argue that my life was never the same.

That was, however, until the day that I saw the commercial for the new T-FAL Actifry. I knew I had to have it, however ~~I was far too cheap~~ my kitchen is already full of various other gadgets that I decided that now was just not the time. Thankfully, Mothers Day and my birthday fall typically within the same week, and to my good luck, Mr.Morethanyouraverage mom had been listening to my ~~insessant nagging~~ subtle hints about how much I wanted this puppy, and voila ~~1 short month after mothers day/my birthday… Don’t ask…~~ she was mine!!

No lie… It was love at first site!

Now, so far I’ve only used it to make various types of potatoes (homemade french fries, wedges, “roasted” new potatoes, frozen store bought french fries) but even having only used it for one of the plethora of things it’s capable of I can confidently say that it’s awesomeness far outweighs it’s slightly higher price tag.

I’ve recently been turned on to using coconut oil in place of traditional cooking oils, which works great in the Actifry! Cooking times are remarkably quick and easy, cleanup is a breeze, and I love that I can have the deep fried crispiness of restaurant french fries without all the nasty grossness that comes from deep frying at home.

This is seriously worth it people! Thank you to T-FAL for creating such an awesome product!
