I’ve mentioned before that sometimes I have tremendous self discipline and research, and plan out my attack. Those days I typically come up with super cute bentos that will make even the most discerning toddler grin. Other Most days, I fly by the seat of my pants and hope for the best! This is a funny route because sometimes it results in some of my best bentos, and sometimes it’s an epic fail… Lucky for me, today I must have been wearing the right pants (or skirt in today’s case) as I think this lunch turned out super cute! I’ll also add that as I’m single parenting right now while Mr.MoreThanYourAverageMom is working out of town (praise the bento gods that I have only two kids this week!) so my pantry is nearly empty, and I’m really scrounging for food… Gee, I think I made us out to be worse off than we really are!!
Anyways, I almost always have frozen waffles in my freezer, and while hunting for other bento additions this sort of just created itself! I think it’s cute! Hope you enjoy it too!
On a serious note though, our family is tremendously lucky to always have access to nutritious food when and where we want it. Some people are not so lucky. If you’re so inclined, please consider supporting VEG’s charity of choice, Mary’s Meals which “is a global movement that sets up school feeding projects in some of the world’s poorest communities, where hunger and poverty prevent children from gaining an education” Donations can be made over at JustGiving. For aprox. $16 (CAD or USD) a child can be fed for an entire YEAR! If you haven’t seen VEG’s blog yet make sure you head over and have a read. It’s truely inspirational!
In this bento: Waffle with cream cheese and jam, marshmallo eyes, apple mouth, boiled egg ears, and blueberry hair. Hotdog and cheese on heart picks, crackers, mixed veggies, chips, and fruit to go |
Enjoy!
