Happy Friday Y’all! It’s been a great, and eventful week. Not only was it my last week in my current position at my job (I was recently offered another position, a lateral move, but it’s a full time regular position as opposed to temp position in a new department!), but yesterday marked the close of the Circle of Moms Top 25 Canadian Mom Blogger voting to which I’m THRILLED to announce that I, YOU all voted MoreThanYourAverageMom into the top 15! A whopping 528 votes put me in 14th place out of an amazing 104 blogs! Not that I doubt my amazing readers, followers, friends, and family, but there was some stiff competition out there so from the bottom of my bento making heart, THANK YOU!
In September, I took the biggest kid grocery shopping and he spotted these super cute thermoses. Well, of course we just “HAVE to get them for our lunches Mommy!”, and because my MoreThanYourAverageMom super powers are useless against the sweet pleadings of my children, two thermoses were added to the cart. N picked out this monster looking one which he calls a crocodile, and a pink thermos with a butterfly on it for Mad. Clearly however, I didn’t really put a lot of thought into this purchase as making lunches in the evenings isn’t really conducive to preparing hot thermos lunches. That said… I was hungover a little slow moving this morning due to my work “send off” last night, so lunches were made in the morning, and actually, the time it took to prep the thermoses and soup didn’t take nearly as long as I expected. I put boiled water in the empty thermoses while my coffee was brewing, and then then transferred hot soup to the now hot thermoses and crossed my fingers that the food will stay hot until lunch. The rest of the lunch is snacky type stuff that will go with/in the soup. I used my funbites cutter to chop up some bread that can be dipped/dunked in the soup, Presidents Choice penguin crackers, plums, Motts fruit and veggie cup, and juice. A simple and easy hot lunch for an overcast fall day.

Enjoy!
