We’ve all been there — you run into IKEA for a “quick trip” and somehow end up with a cart full of tealights, a new rug, and a cinnamon bun (because you earned it, obviously). As a mom, DIYer, and fan of good deals, I’m always on the lookout for ways to make IKEA work harder for my budget — and lucky for us, there are plenty of them!
Whether you’re planning a kitchen reno, organizing your kid’s chaos, or just want your home to feel more like Pinterest and less like a tornado, here are my favorite ways to save money at IKEA.
Hit up the “As-is” section (now called the Circular Hub)
A.K.A. my favorite IKEA treasure hunt.
The As-is section — rebranded as the Circular Hub is where you’ll find returned items, discontinued pieces, floor models, or slightly damaged goods that are still in perfectly usable condition. This place is a goldmine for anyone willing to get a little creative or handy. I’ve scored everything from closet systems to countertops at a fraction of the original price. Think of it as IKEA’s version of thrifting — eco-friendly, budget-friendly, and oddly thrilling.

You can even browse the Circular Hub online in many locations — letting you reserve hidden gems that aren’t on the showroom floor and pick them up within 24 hours.
Pro tip: Visit early in the day or right after the weekend when returns are restocked.
Sign up for IKEA Family. It’s Free!
If you haven’t already signed up for IKEA Family, do it now. It’s completely free and gives you access to exclusive member-only discounts, extended return periods, and even free coffee and savings on dining in the restaurant! Some of the deals are major — like 20–30% off storage systems, furniture, or accessories.

Time your big purchases with IKEA events
Planning to redo your kitchen or give your bathroom a glow-up? Wait for the IKEA kitchen and bathroom events. These happen a few times a year and usually include significant discounts on systems, fixtures, and even services like installation.
Sometimes they’ll throw in gift cards or discounts when you spend over a certain amount (hello, bonus savings). I planned our small kitchen reno around one of these sales and walked away with hundreds saved and no regrets. Okay, maybe just a tiny pang of regret for not going all in and tackling the other rooms too… but now I’ve got an excuse for another trip!
Look out for partner promotions
One of the easiest ways to save before you even step foot into IKEA is by keeping an eye out for partner promos, especially those involving gift cards. For example, PC Optimum recently ran a promotion where you could earn 10,000 points (that’s $10!) for every $100 spent on IKEA gift cards. That’s basically free money if you were already planning a big purchase or reno.
These offers usually pop up at places like Shoppers Drug Mart or Real Canadian Superstore, so it’s worth watching their flyers or app for upcoming deals. Load up on gift cards during the promo, then use them in-store or online at IKEA like cash.

Pro tip: Combine this with IKEA Family deals or event sales for some seriously stacked savings.
Bonus IKEA saving hacks
- Check the clearance bins near the checkouts. Hidden gems galore.
- Go midweek or early mornings to avoid crowds and snake deals before they’re gone .
- Don’t sleep on the warehouse area — sometimes the best deals are hiding right where you pick up your furniture.
You don’t need a big budget to create a space you love. Whether it’s your playroom, kitchen, or cozy reading nook, IKEA can help you get there without blowing your savings — if you know where to look.
